Bentonia is Blues uniqueness and prolificity. Henry Stuckey, Skip James, Jack Owens, Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, Benjamin “Bud” Spires, Jacob Stuckey, Cornelius Bright, etc., honed (the extant continue…) their craft in & around the Blue Front Café.

Tito Deler will be back for the 45th Annual Bentonia Blues Festival June 12 - 16, 2017, at the Blue Front Café and June 17, 2017, for a full day of music at Jimmy “Duck” Holmes’ farm!
Okay, can we all shout BENTONIA?!! With typical bureaucratic embellishment, the US Postal Service announces Mississippi’s bicentenary stamp with none other than Jimmy “Duck” Holmes’ (owner of Bentonia’s Blue Front Café, https://www.facebook.com/bluefrontrecords/?fref=ts, https://www.facebook.com/bluefrontcafeblues/) hands and guitar in a photo by Lou Bopp. Epic.

UPDATE – Thu., January 5, 2017, ~10 AM
Just got off the phone with the USPS Mississippi Public Relations person. The 1817-2017 Mississippi Statehood stamp will first be available on Fri., March 31, 2017. There will be a first day issue ceremony that day “…on the coast in either Biloxi or Gulfport.” Apparently, the exact time and location has not been set.

Here’s a tip:
If you have a Bentonia, Mississsippi, address and buy any stamps online and have the stamps delivered to your Bentonia address or P.O. Box, the local Bentonia Post Office gets credit for the sale! This is very important because all rural Post Offices are constantly at risk of being closed due to USPS cutbacks!!
